Brave and Old eBay Auctions!

Although the kids are still on hiatus, I thought I'd revisit the blog to notify any readers (if you are still out there) of a couple of eBay auctions I listed yesterday.

Auction #1: Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes - The Old Order Changeth DVD.

"Avengers Assemble!"
This DVD reprints over 100 Avengers comics from January 1998 to December 2006.

What a perfect collection to pick up and start reading as you wait for the new live-action Avengers movie this spring!

Auction #2: The Walking Dead - Volumes 1-13

"In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally start living."
I LOVE this series, but with the Comic Wizard starting to dig through my comics, it's time for my Walking Dead collection to find a new home.

As much as I've enjoyed Rick's quest, this story is so dark, I don't think I'll re-read it that often.

Whatever money I raise with the auctions, I'm going to use for my monthly comic budget.

There are a few books I have an eye on my for myself along with some comics for the kids, like Reed Gunther, Marvel Universe's Avengers and Ultimate Spider-man and maybe Taiko.

Super Reader is still sore about the end of Tiny Titans, but has reluctantly agreed to give Superman Family Adventures a shot, since she'll receive the first few issues as part of her remaining Tiny Titans subscription.

Happy New Year and Good Night!

With the cancellation of Batman: The Brave and the Bold and Tiny Titans, the kids have decided to retire the blog.

It was those two comics that prompted us to launch The Brave and the Old and with their passing, the kids thought it would be a good time to take a break. This isn't the first time we've been at this crossroad, but it appears it will be the final time.

Super Reader told me that she wants to read for fun and not have to worry about reviews. I don't blame her! I would hate for comics to become a chore for her and her little brother.

We had a lot of fun with the Brave and the Old. We learned a lot about blogging, we discovered some awesome new family-friendly comics and had a lot of fun with our reviews and interviews.

Before we go, I wanted to offer a BIG Brave and the Old thanks to everyone that agreed to do interviews with the kids this year and to all of the publishers that offered the kids books to review. For the books we didn't get a chance to review, the kids have decided to donate to the local library so others can have a chance to read them.

In closing, I've decided to launch my own blog where I can review the books I'm currently reading and still have a place to share all-ages books that I would recommend for others.

Who knows, maybe the kids will come out of retirement some day and help me out?

Fantastic Friday - Greatest FF Covers 11-1!

Welcome to week four of Fantastic Friday!

To help celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Fantastic Four, my eight year old son and I have selected our 44 favorite Fantastic Four covers.

Today, for our big finale, we're sharing with you the final eleven.
11 Fantastic Four #236... this might have been one of my top 4.
10 Fantastic Four #24... definitely one of my top 4.
9 Fantastic Four #48
8 Fantastic Four #19... not such a strange choice when you consider the Comic Wizard's fascination with LEGO Pharaoh's Quest.
7 Fantastic Four #54
6 Fantastic Four #3... this is probably my other choice for top 4.

5 Fantastic Four #26
4 Fantastic Four #17

3 Fantastic Four #170... What?!?! Luke Cage made the top 4?
2 Fantastic Four#106
1 Fantastic Four #1... how fitting!
As for the voting, it worked like this: I selected MY favorite Fantastic Four covers and printed copies of them. The Comic Wizards laid them out on the living room floor in eleven rows of four. He then started making piles of his favorites and prioritized them until we ended up with this list.

It was a fun process to watch and I was a little surprised by his rankings, but you have to remember, he does not have a connection to these stories and was simply picking the covers that caught his attention.

Agree? Disagree? What are some of your favorite Fantastic Four covers?

All featured covers are available as posters and framed prints.
